Eat Wonky Hits the Streets
Wonky...wonky...wonky. No matter how many times you say it, "wonky" still sounds like a crazy word. In this case that's a good thing, since "wonky" means, "out of the ordinary; slightly off-center." Wonky is a commonly used word in Canada, which is exactly what the founders of Eat Wonky want to bring to DC.
Inspired by the Canadian dish poutine, a french fry, cheese and gravy combination, Eat Wonky brings you Wonky Fries (below).
Why stop at fries? Try the Wonky Dog (below).
Let's be honest, this combination is strange. I've never seen anything like it and I'm sure many of you have not either but it works. Despite my initial hesitations, I throughly enjoyed my meal. The ingredients were fresh, the fries crispy, and the gravy hearty. My favorite was the Wonky Dog; the all-beef hot dog was juicy and delectable. An interesting tidbit, Eat Wonky uses the same gravy used by Canadian poutine food trucks, so those from Canada should feel right at home.
Eat Wonky hits the streets today. Find them at Franklin Park for lunch and look for them tonight on U Street.
To track the truck, follow them on twitter @eatwonky and on Facebook.
