This is the big week for the Metro Show. You don't want to miss it! The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show has created an initiative to honor and recognize a group of military spouses as part of the 2010 show to be held at the Washington Convention Center November 13 and 14.
“Operation Home Cooking” will bring military spouses to the event on November 13 where they will see the more than 300 exhibitors, attend a presentation by Food Network stars Paula Deen and Bobby Flay, receive a cookbook autographed by Deen, Flay or Rachael Ray and be the guests at a private event hosted by Mrs. Lloyd Austin, the spouse of the Commanding General of US Forces in Iraq, and Mrs. Kenneth O. Preston, wife of the Sergeant Major of the United States Army, at which Paula Deen will make a special guest appearance.
The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show (MCES) will sponsor the first eight military spouses from the DC surrounding area. Spouses of Wounded Warriors who are being treated in local area military hospitals along with spouses of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts will also be represented. Operation Home Cooking will also use funding from corporate sponsors to underwrite this once-in-a-lifetime day for military spouses with a goal of 500 to be so honored.
“Since the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show occurs during Veterans Day week, there could not be more a appropriate time to recognize and pay tribute to the to the spouses of our military heroes for their daily sacrifice and commitment.” Medved said.
"If you or someone you care about is the spouse of a Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Airmen who is currently serving or has recently served in Afghanistan and/or Iraq, please nominate them to participate in this exciting event today!" Medved added.
Others supporting this project are the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Family Programs, Mrs. David Petraeus and Data Tactics Corporation.
