There's nothing better than sitting in the garden of L'Auberge Chez Francois sipping wine, listening to birds chirping and the water streaming from the fountain and enjoying the most delicious meal.
Yes, I've found my new favorite restaurant. L'Auberge blew me away and I just keep thinking about planning my next trip back.
L'Auberge is a special occasion restaurant and you should definitely make the trip on your next special occasion. The hustle and bustle of city living keeps life exciting, but the great thing about DC is that the hills and peacefulness of Great Falls are only 30 minutes away.
L'Auberge has so much character with the antique grandfather clock, stain glass windows, fun French quotes on the walls and photos of Francois, Chef Jacques' father.
I tasted the love in the food made from a chef who grew up in the restaurant business. When you've been open for 35 years, you must be doing something right.
From the moment the experience began, I knew it was going to be good. We started with an assortment of breads and Bibeleskais, a Alsatian cottage cheese spread. Chef Jacques was kind enough to share the recipe so this will be a new staple for entertaining in the DeSantis-Then City Inn (aka my condo).
The waiters surprised us with little treats throughout the meal like the vegetable quiche. Each dish got better than the next.
I loved the freshness of the flavors in the Gazpacho and Corey loved the creaminess of the lobster bisque.
Bigger is better when it comes to asparagus. Chef Jacques usually locally grown. The melted Gruyere cheese on top is amazing!
