The grand opening of Zabb was spectacular!
Zabb
has a wonderful ambiance with low lighting, clean, modern lines, and a
U-shaped bar for drinks on one side and fresh sushi on the other. The
major attraction for me: it has an open roof top patio for dining and
drinking, and a natural feeling to it with tree branches overhanging the
tables for shade on sunny days. Better yet, the owners took a "green"
approach to building the outdoor dining and bar space by recycling the
wooden panels from the previous flooring and using the panels as the
outdoor walls. They even used the wood to make the zen inspired rooftop
bar! The patio is perfect for grabbing drinks with friends after work.
TK Chin opened Zabb DC after running a successful
Zabb in Manassas. TK is down to earth, friendly, and extremely
accommodating. He prides himself on using only the finest ingredients to
make Zabb's menu - and there is no denying it after tasting the quality
of the food. The executive sushi chef, Mr. Kannasute, trained with Iron
Chef Japan and is the winner of multiple prestigious awards bringing
quality and creative sushi to Zabb's Thai and Asian cuisine.
My
first drink: lychee lemonade - mixed beautifully with a touch of
grenadine and topped with a lychee as a garnish. Delicious, fresh, and
not overly sweet. I also had the strawberry basil mojito - an absolute
must if you're into mojitos!
For the grand opening, TK and his chefs provided a
generous buffet which was fantastic for trying everything on the menu. A
few of my favorites: the tom yum soup - a mix of sweet sour soup with
chicken, tuna tataki - seared tuna with asian tataki sauce, and the
shrimp yakitori in teriyaki sauce. By far the most unique to Zabb, the
redskins roll consisting of shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, topped with a
kiwi wasabi and strawberry sauce! Definitely worth a try for sushi
lovers!
Zabb
is in a great location, has excellent food, ambiance, outdoor seating,
and an excellent management. I would highly recommend a visit to Zabb!
