Perfect Pair: Slow Roasted Leg of Lamb

For almost a year now, I've been the DC Lambassador and Supper Club host for the Tri-Lamb Group supper club series.  The Tri-Lamb Group is a collaborative initiative of lamb producer organizations from the U.S., New Zealand and Australia which focuses on educating Americans about lambFor the fourth supper club, I made a Slow Roasted Leg of Lamb paired with a Belnero Wine.

The Dish:  Slow Roasted Leg of Lamb
Lamb: Its Place in the U.S. Diet, is an excellent resource for nutritional information.  On average, a 3-ounce serving of lamb is lean, has only 175 calories.  It's an excellent source of protein, vitamin B12, niacin, zinc and selenium and a good source of iron and riboflavin.  Amazing!

The Pairing: Belnero
Belnero wine is from Castello Banfi  and has a deep mauve color.  You'll find gentle aromas of vanilla, tobacco and coffee, with hints of cherry jam and prunes.   It pairs wonderfully with the lamb.

We served the lamb with A Walk at the Orchard with Spirit of Hudson Vodka.  I also made some other signature cocktails including:  Apple Tree with Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye, Carrot Cake-tails, Spring Sparklers with Villa Marzia Limoncello and Maschio Prosecco,
Rabbit Snacks with Ventura Orangecello, Mezcal Margaritas with Los Nahuales Mezcal and more.

The results:  a delicious lamb feast to be enjoyed by my supper club guests.
For sides, I served my deviled eggs, potato gratin and white asparagus with lemon and butter
For dessert, we ended with some Cream Cheese Dolci Gelati with my Aunt Linda's Award Winning Carrot Cake.

Try this delicious spring lamb meal at home soon!
