From the Empire State, to San Francisco, to Sin City, to our nation’s capital – Executive Chef and Owner Emily Sprissler (Top Chef Season 2 contestant) and fellow chef husband Jason Cote opened Mayfair and Pine to feature a taste of their lives. This American Gastropub pays a tribute to San Francisco with the seafood Ciopinno ($16 for a starter; $30 for main).
Pronounced “Chip-een-o.” The story goes that Italian fishermen invented this at the
market. One said to another, “Can you chip-in-o somma feesh?” “Si!” “And you, chip-in-o somma clams?” “Si, si.” This continued until every necessary item was “chipped in” for a fantastic communal meal. Chef Emily chipped in with seared scallops, mussels and clams in a rich and spicy tomato broth. Stop in soon to indulge in this mouthwatering stew!
