DC Drive-In at Union Market: Union Market will be hosting the inaugural “DC Drive-In,” an outdoor summer movie series starting on Friday, July 12. Over the summer, come watch classic Washington D.C.- centric films on Union Market’s 3-story wall. Pre-show festivities will include music, contests and special giveaways and movies will begin at 9pm. A variety of Union Market vendors will also participate, serving food, drinks and fun snacks. The DC Drive-In is free to attend, however reservations are suggested for cars. There will also be a picnic area in the parking lot for bikers and walkers – no reservations are required for the picnic area. The schedule for the DC Drive-In is as follows:

Fish: Cured, Smoked and Pickled. The delicatessen traces its roots to Eastern Europe, where our great grandparents cured, smoked and pickled fish. We’ve relearned this important food tradition at DGS. In the second class of the series, Chef Koslow will teach you how to cure salmon, smoke whitefish, and pickle bluefish.

“DC’s Cocktail Culture” Cocktail Class: U Street's Vinoteca is exploring what DC is now drinking with its "DC's Cocktail Culture" cocktail class on Tuesday, July 30th from 7-9pm. Led by Vinoteca mixologist Horus Alvarez, the hands-on cocktail class will start with prohibition, exploring what the District's bar scene was like before and after, and introduce DC's signature cocktail, the Rickey. Alvarez will then cover cocktail-making basics, showcase a variety of locally-distilled spirits such as Green Hat Gin and Wasmund's Whisky, and then explore the "revolution of mixology" in the District and beyond. The intimate class will explore and pour four different cocktails, and include light food pairings from Executive Chef Lonnie Zoeller as well as a $5 gift card to come back and enjoy more cocktails at Vinoteca.
