It is safe to say there is no other venue like Pinstripes in all of DC. 34,000 square feet of prime real estate in the southwest corner of the former Shops at Georgetown Park space. The entrance is unobtrusive on Wisconsin Avenue just north of the C and O Canal, but once you step inside, a fun and impressive experience awaits. 14 bowling lanes, 6 bocce courts, a huge open kitchen serving very well done American bistro cuisine with an Italian accent, and beautiful outdoor seating along the canal.
I joined a group of two dozen media invitees on February 10 for a private tour, buffet-style dinner, cocktails and a bocce tournament. As we entered the main foyer, we were greeted with limoncello cocktails . . .
then were whisked away to see the bowling lanes . . .
and then to the bocce courts.
After a very nice dinner, it was time for a bocce lesson and tournament.
This is how I roll.
The courts are pretty fast (think grass court tennis or even curling) and require patience and finesse to master. But it is lots of fun trying. Note to self: more backspin.
Pinstripes has private rooms for parties from 20 to 1,000 people, multiple bars and lounges and full menu service anywhere in the space. It is a fun and delicious way to spend an afternoon or evening. I know I'll be back for local craft beer, snacks and to practice my toss with friends.
