Summer Block Party Late Night: All good things must come to an end and that's all the more reason to celebrate the end of summer in style -- at the last Summer Block Party Late Night at the National Building Museum. On Thursday from 5-9pm, enjoy extended hours to visit exhibitions, navigate the BIG Maze, and nosh at Hill Country's Backyard Barbecue. Tickets are $16 and can be purchased at the door.
On Friday, August 29 – exactly one year after it opened its highly anticipated doors – the The Salamander will host a Birthday Bubbles celebration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Filled with bottomless sparkling wine, birthday sweets and live entertainment, the event will take place on the Grand Terrace and Lawn. Admission is $30 per person.
The Salamander resort’s birthday weekend culminates on Sunday, August 31, with an Epicurience Brunch Spectacular from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy numerous culinary selections, including bountiful breakfast choices, carving stations, a seafood display and decadent desserts. There will also be live musical entertainment, bottomless mimosas, Virginia wine tastings and classic family lawn games. Admission is $75 per adult and $18 per child; reservations are required.
Uncle Maddio's is getting ready to open its first Virginia location on Saturday, August 30, in Dulles, Va. within the Washington, D.C. area. The restaurant is located at the Dulles 28 Centre in Loudoun County, Virginia and will throw a grand opening celebration with a free 9-inch, 3-topping pizza for everyone who shows up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Not ready to give up the end of summer? End the labor day weekend by attending FLOFest DC – a food wine, music and literary festival - on Monday, September 1. Attendees will enjoy food options such as Luke’s Lobster and wine options such as VA wine from Willowcroft Vineyards. In addition, the festival will be featuring performances by Marcus Johnson, Sylver Logan Sharp, The Donvonte McCoy Latin Jazz Orchestra, Rudy Gonzalez y Su Locara, feature an appearance from Celebrity Chef Huda, all while being hosted by Cortney Hicks.
