U Street’s most exclusive Italian dining destination, Nonna’s Kitchen, is partnering with Giacomo Satta, the son of world-class vigneron Michele Satta, to bring the treasures of Tuscan wine country to DC.
On Tuesday, May 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., guests are invited to celebrate the beauty of Tuscan viniculture by tasting exclusive, hand-selected Michele Satta wines with Giacomo Satta himself, followed by a 3-course dinner at 8:30 p.m.prepared by Executive Chef Will Artley with wine pairings selected by Giacomo Satta. Nonna’s Kitchen, tucked snugly away amidst the hustle and bustle of U Street corridor, is an epicenter of Italian culinary culture, providing intimate and interactive access to rare and valuable Italian epicurean experiences. On Tuesday, May 3rd, Giacomo Satta will be gracing Nonna’s Kitchen with exactly that, offering his unique and invaluable expert knowledge of the Bolgheri terroir and the Michele Satta wine making process to provide guests with an incredibly informed and extraordinarily personal experience unlike anything else.
Giacomo Satta himself will greet guests upon arrival, who will then taste them through a wide range of seven beautiful Tuscan wines and transport them to the rolling hills of Tuscany and the gorgeous Michele Satta vineyard. To enhance the tasting experience, Executive Chef Will Artley will compliment the wines with expertly paired antipasti like a delicious Italian Cheese Board with an assortment of freshly baked breads, Halibut Crudo garnished with smoked leeks and a Fava Bean Rillette with crispy, crunchy pork rinds. Giacomo will offer in depth and expert insight on the highly regarded terroir of Bolgheri as well as the Michele Satta wines themselves, which will include such wines as a beautiful Giovin Re Toscana IGT Viognier with bright notes of apricot and citrus or a bolder Cavaliere Toscana IGT Sangiovese, with notes of vanilla, chocolate, cherry and violet. Other varietals will include a Merlot, Cabernet, Sangiovese & Syrah blend, 100% Aglianico del Vulture, and a Vermentino and Sauvignon blend.
The wine tasting will be followed by an optional seated three-course dinner at 8:30 p.m., when Executive Chef Will Artley will prepare three spring inspired courses to compliment three wines hand-selected by Giacomo Satta.
Below is the menu for the $50 three course dinner with optional wine pairings available for an additional $15:
