The iconic Napa Valley winery has been producing highly-regarded wines since 1964, and the perennial favorites Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are the latest wines to receive a new polished look with newly foiled, all-silver labels emblazoned with Sterling Vineyards’ signature seal. I had the best time visiting the property a couple years ago. Cheers!
Sterling Vineyards’ 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshing and flavorful expression of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Harvested in late summer, the vines are given the chance to yield grapes that have fully ripened and developed intense fruit flavors. The wine brings notes of citrus and white peach to the tongue and aromas of stone fruit, pear, fresh grapefruit, and lemon to the nose. It is lovely served on its own as a spring aperitif, or paired with lighter fare like fish or oysters.
The Sterling Vineyards 2015 Chardonnay offers fragrant aromas of fresh lemon crème, citrus, crisp apple and toasted hazelnut, with a finely-textured palate of stone fruit, honey, and almond. This Napa Valley Chardonnay is fermented in stainless steel and French and America Oak, allowing the wine to take on creamy notes, while maintaining bright fruit and acidity, making it a great match for a risotto with spring vegetables.
Sterling Vineyards’ Napa Valley 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes grown in the warmer valley region of Calistoga, including the Diamond Mountain Ranch, Bear Flats and Tamagni vineyards, where warm days and cool evenings produce ripe fruit flavors and a racy acidity. The wine boasts a dark garnet-red color in the glass with big fruit aromas of blackberry jam, ripe plum and notes of cassis, and pairs well with nutty cheeses and grilled meats.
