Whisky Tiki is a new trend in cocktails that you must try out!
On Sunday at the Archipelago restaurant near U Street, Virginia Distillery Company introduced me to Virginia-Highland Whisky with a fun, tropical twist. Located in the mountains of Virginia, this American Single Malt Whisky distillery produces aged Port Cask finished Virginia-Highland Whisky made with malted barley and fresh Virginian mountain water. This whisky, mixed with pineapples and other tropical flavors, created the perfect drinks to sip on as summer is coming to an end.
The Whisky Tiki end of the summer party featured three Whisky Tikis:
The Virginian Downfall
Whisky, Peach Brandy, Pineapple, Honey, Mint
Ghost of the Highlands
Whisky, Rum Aricole, Grapefruit, Cinnamon, Lime
There Can Be Only One (Served in Whole Pineapple)
Whisky, Macadamia, Coconut, Pineapple

Archipelago, an island-themed bar on U Street, provided small bites and entertainment while I tried my Whisky Tikis. Archipelago is "always tiki," providing guests with a laundry list of delicious cocktails and a tropical attitude throughout the bamboo covered bar and patio. Island inspired eats are also served at Archipelago, including the best Hot Chicken Steam Buns I have ever tasted! The menu also offers other bar bites such as Ham and Cheese sliders with King Hawaiian rolls, Chinese BBQ Pork Nachos, and spicy Dan-Dan Noodles.
