Raise a glass of Segura Viudas Cava, the delicious Spanish sparkling wine, during the month of love!
Heist, one of D.C.'s luxurious nightclubs in Dupont Circle, hosted the #OpenUpCava event for winos and foodies to try all the delicious Cava flavors available. I couldn't get enough of their sweet rose wine! Segura Viudas has five distinct sparkling wines available, including:
Extra Dry Cava
Rose Cava
Brut Cava
Gran Cuvee Reserva Cava
Reserca Heredad Cava
These wines are perfect for a large late-night party or a night at home for two. Wanting to make a cool cocktail for Valentines Day with those leftover Strawberries?? Try this recipe from the Segura Viudas Cava website:
1 Bottle of Segura Viudas Brut, chilled
1/2 cup of light brown sugar
1/2 cup of dry wine (Sauvignon Blanc)
2 pints of strawberries, hulled
1 piece of vanilla bean, split lengthwise
1 sprig of lemon verbena or lemon thyme
6 wooden skewers, soaked in water
In a pot, combine the brown sugar and dry white wine with ½ cup of water and cook over medium heat, bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Dice 6 strawberries and add them to the syrup along with the vanilla bean. Transfer the syrup into a heatproof bowl and add the sprig of lemon verbena. Let cool and refrigerate for at least an hour. Strain the syrup through a fine sieve set over a bowl.
In a pitcher, combine the syrup and the Cava. Serve in a highball glass over ice and garnish with strawberries and a lemon verbena sprig.
For D.C. people, we also definitely recommend heading out to Heist to sip on cocktails, order bottle service, lounge with young professionals, dance to the DJ, and use their cool photo booths!
