Hope your bellies are still satisfied from Thanksgiving!
The Israeli street food-inspired eatery, Shouk, is now serving falafels! Shouk is the Hebrew word for market, referring to the open-air fresh markets common in Israel and the Middle East. The D.C. chain, which is located in Mt Vernon Triangle (655 K Street NW) and Union Market (395 Morse Street NE), is certified kosher and the menu is completely plant-based.

The idea behind the fast-casual Israeli chain was to create an interesting plant-based menu that could help minimize meat-intake. The menu offers eggplant burgers, polenta fries, and traditional Israeli-style falafels wrapped inside of a fresh pita, which can all be ordered with a side of harissa, Israeli ketchup, tahina, cashew labneh or almond feta. My favorite sauce to add for extra flavor would have to be the green schug, a mild Yemeni sauce, which is also a new menu item.
For a healthy, sweet dessert, they also have delicious lemon date balls! A must-try!
Definitely come check out this fast-casual vegan spot. Shouk has two locations in Washington, DC, in Mt Vernon Triangle (655 K Street NW) and Union Market (395 Morse Street NE). Open daily in Mt Vernon from 11 am - 10 pm daily and in Union Market from 11 am to 9 pm daily.
