Overview: The Source

Initial Thoughts:
  • Design and Decor:  Modern with great natural light
  • Food:  Modern Asian
  • Drinks:  Lunchtime, so I'll have to go back.
  • Would I go back?  Yes

I was delighted to dine at Wolfgang Puck's The Source for lunch with Amber Pfau and Sangeetha Sarma of Pfau Communications.  The lighting is phenomenal with floor-ceiling-windows. I was excited to meet Scott Drewno who was recently crowned DC's Prince of Porc at Cochon 555.

Scott set the meal off right with the Spicy tuna tartare, sesame miso-cones, pickled ginger, shaved bonito.  I loved the sweetness from the honey used in making the cones.
Crispy sucking pig with plum puree, pickled cipollini, sweet bean

I absolutely loved the Dimsum platter that included: Wok-fired shrimp dumplings with XO sauce, Sea scallop sui mai with curried lobster emulsion,  Crystal chive dumpling with Chinese mustard and King crab, Pork belly potsticker with black vinegar and chili oil, Lobster and shrimp spring rolls with honey ten-spice dipping sauce, Organic chicken dumpling with beeche and oyster mushrooms, and Szechuan "Dan Dan" dumpling with organic chicken in peanut sauce.  They were all so tasty that I can't really pick a favorite.

As if we weren't already stuffed, we still had the main course on the way.
I got the Maine lobster club, bacon vinaigrette, mesclun mix, toasted walnut bread.  OMG, how can you go wrong with lobster and bacon.  The Source's sandwiches are amazing.
Shrimp tempura club, bacon aioli, tomato marmalade, root vegetable chips

The Spicy "Thai style" chicken salad, cucumbers, roasted peanuts, lemon dressing is so pretty and delicious.

I also loved the desserts.  We tried the warm blueberry crumble, salted streusel, vanilla ice cream.

Molten chocolate purse, peanut butter ice cream

15-layer carrot cake, cream cheese, candied walnut, ginger ice cream

Each dish was a taste of heaven.  Everything was executed to perfection and had so much flavor.  You can't go wrong with anything that you'll order.  Stop in for lunch or dinner to get a taste of the talent of Chef Scott Drewno.  You'll be so happy and satisfied.
