Opening: Wagshal's to Open In Wesley Heights

Serving the Spring Valley neighborhood of NW Washington, DC since 1925, Wagshal's will soon be joining its southern neighbor, opening a second location in Wesley Heights at 3201 New Mexico Avenue NW by early 2013.

Where the current Massachusetts Ave. location splits prepared foods, sandwiches and a selection of wines from the dry-aged kosher meats, fresh seafood and produce, as well exotic game and other meats through a Delicatessen and Market located several doors apart from each other, the Wesley Heights locations will hold all items under one roof.

Wagshal’s on New Mexico will also have a different look than that of the original location, with inspiration coming from the mercados owner Bill Fuch found in Barcelona, and will include indoor seating and an outdoor patio for casual dining, as well as one hour free customer parking.

American University students and staff, neighborhood residents, and professionals working in the area make up the large majority of customers who pack Wagshal's daily during lunch to enjoy one of their famous brisket sandwiches or burgers, but residents spanning DC, MD, and VA come to Wagshal's to pick up the finest quality meats, including Ibérico de Bellota, for their dinner parties and cookoutsWagshal's most recently introduced Ibérico de Bellota pork, a product of Spain, during the Fancy Food Show through cooking demonstrations by Washington’s top chefs including Chef Scott Drewno of Wolfgang Puck’s The Source,  Chef Jeffery Buben of Vidalia and Bistro Bis, and Chef Ramon Martinez of José André’s famed Jaleo.

As we wait for Wagshal’s on New Mexico, remember you can still pick up quality meats at the Wagshal's on Massachusetts, located at 4845 Massachusetts Ave NW
