Friday

Jazz in the Garden: Spread out your picnic blanket at the Sculpture Garden of the National Gallery of Art and enjoy the free sounds of jazz guitarist Josh Bayer. If you've never been to Jazz in the Garden, it's a D.C. summer tradition that takes place every Friday night from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Feel free to pack your own snacks and unwind (for free) after a long week at the office. The last concert of the series will take place on August 23rd.

Roll back the clock to a simpler time when Fresh Prince ruled the small screen, "The Rachel" queened the hair scene and Bill Clinton reigned supreme. The 9:30 Club (815 V St. NW) is hosting the No Scrubs '90s dance party. Get your nostalgic groove on to old favorites such as TLC, Coolio, Spice Girls and Nirvana. DJ's Will Eastman & Brian Billion will keep your flannel loving, platform wearing, girl powering bodies rocking all night long! Tickets are $15 and doors open at 9:00 PM.

Remember that lovely day in March when the genius team at BYT gave you the opportunity to eat all you can eat donuts from a dozen different bakeries and restaurants in the DC area, participate in a donut eating competition and enter your homemade donut into a judged competition? It's all happening again, except all mentions of the word donut will be replaced with the word cookies (and ice cream). BYT Presents-COOKIES and (ICE) CREAM FEST will be held on August 24th from 12pm to 4pm and Penn Social will once again be a haven for all dessert lovers. Presale tickets are $13.00 and prices will increase to $15.00 at the door, though it's very unlikely that door tickets will be available, as the DC Donut Fest sold out. Buy your tickets to the COOKIES and (ICE) CREAM FEST here http://cookiesandcream.eventbrite.com/

On August 24th, 2013, the DC Homebrewers (DCHB) will be hosting their 2nd Annual BBQ, sponsored by Sam Adams, at Kastles Stadium along the southwest waterfront in Washington, DC. This year, all proceeds from the BBQ will benefit the Common Good City Farm, an urban farm and education center located on a half-acre lot in LeDroit Park. Their mission is to grow food, educate, and help low-income DC community members meet their food needs and provide educational opportunities for all. For more information, visit http://commongoodcityfarm.org/. Ticket price includes admission, a plate of BBQ (vegetarian option will be available), two sides, a hand-crafted soda, Sam Adams beer and an additional beer ticket for one of several craft beers that will be on tap during the event. Additional beer tickets will be available for $5. Buy tickets in advance at http://dchbbbq2013-estw.eventbrite.com/.
