Thursday, 9/5 – DC Fest: Those who live, work, and play in Washington, DC know this city offers a diverse range of attractions and activities for engaged professionals. DC Fest is an outdoor festival celebrating life in DC with live music from the area’s best bands, great food, beer and wine from local food trucks and brewers, fun outdoor games, and a first hand look at the cutting-edge brands and products DC has to offer. Come celebrate the best of DC, hosted by InTheCapital, on September 5th at the Half Street Fairgrounds from 5:30-9:30pm. Foodies rejoice at Truckeroo this Friday! Head down to the Half Street Fairgrounds (adjacent to Nationals Park) anytime from 11 AM to 11 PM. The Heart of America Foundation's Charity in Chocolate Fashion Show, sponsored by Baci Perugina and hosted by the lovely Kate Michaels, returns this Friday September 6th. Mark your calendars for a fashionably sweet evening at the Mandarin Oriental, where live models will strut the runway dressed in haute couture that has been replaced with edible chocolate attire. In addition to the exciting fashion show, guests of Charity and Chocolate will have access to an open bar and tastings of both sweet and savory dishes from over 50 area restaurants. Guests will also have the chance to enter a raffle with one of a kind prizes, including a Grand Prize trip to Italy with visits to the Perugina factory, classes at the legendary chocolate school in Perugia, and a tour of the Perugina Museum. Proceeds from the event support HOA's Books From The Heart program which provides books to children living in poverty. Want to keep enjoying the great weather and support local businesses? Check out DC's monthly market: DC MEETMarket in the heart of Logan Circle. On the first Saturday of every month from April until December the market hosts an event for about 40 local vendors to sell their products. The event takes place on Saturday September 7th from 11am-5pm at 15th and P St NW. Local bands will also be at the event. Sunday: It's the 35th Annual Adams Morgan Day. From 12 to 7:00 pm, join your neighbors in this annual festival featuring live music,dance performances international food, and "Arts on Belmont," a shaded residential block full of original artisans. The festival will take place on Belmont Road and 18th Street, NW, between Florida Avenue and Columbia Road.

On Tuesday, September 10th, the Carnegie Institution for Science will host a lecture called "Blocking the Sun: Will Solar Geoengineering Research Increase or Decrease the Risk of Climate Change?" This talk is part of their "Capital Science Evening" series, comprised of hour-long lectures on various science-related concepts and issues. Dr. Chris Field, the director of Global Economy study at the Carnegie Institution, will host the talk and mediate a panel of four other scientists who will speak about the pluses and minuses of geoengineering. The panel is free to attend and open to the public, and will be held at the Carnegie Institution for science at 1530 P Street, NW Washington DC. The lecture will begin at 6:45 PM.
