Winter Wine Classes at Vinoteca from 7-9 p.m.  February 26: Argentine and Chilean Wine Dinner  Vinoteca is partnering with Vino del Sol Imports and Tom Clare, local South American wine expert, for an Argentine + Chilean Wine Dinner. Executive Chef Lonnie Zoeller will prepare a delicious four-course meal of South American fare with expert wine pairings from wineries such as Altocedro and Zolo.

Join the unique and exciting 9th Annual Brewer's Ball at the National Building Museum on Saturday, March 2nd put on by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. With over 24 microbrews to choose from, complementing cuisine and live entertainment, craft beer fans are invited to help serve up hope...one pint at a time. The 9th Annual Brewer's Ball will raise funds for researching the genetic, life-threatening disease that affects about 30,000 people in the United States. Local favorites like DC Brau, Chocolate City, Port City, and Flying Dog will rub elbows with nationally renowned brands like Dogfish Head, Lagunitas, Great Lakes, and Allagash. Representatives from many of the breweries are on-hand to chat about the beers they’ve brought, which gives lovers of fine ales and lagers plenty of chances to ask questions and find out more about their favorite suds. Area restaurants like Adams Morgan’s Jack Rose Dining Saloon and H Street’s Granville Moore’s are on-hand to keep patrons well-fed. Tickets are $130. Who knew there was a donut trend frying?  DONUTFEST!  That’s who!  BYT's First Annual Donut fest will take place March 2, Noon – 4PM at Penn Social, 801 E Street, NE and the line-up is irresistible.  Tickets are $12 in advance (and includes all you can eat donut samplings from close to a baker’s dozen local donut makers) and $15 day-of.  There will be music, games, eating competitions, special edition brunch cocktails and beer pairings (of course!), and much, much more. For further information, visit http://donutfest.eventbrite.com/#  Note: this is a 21+ event!

CHEF TAKEOVERS AND NEW TASTING MENUS AT GRAFFIATO: Chef Mike Isabella is opening his kitchens at Graffiato for both his team and guest chefs to showcase their menus. Graffiato will offer a series of new menus and events on Sundays and Mondays, including a unique 12-course tasting menu from sous chef, Adam Brick; seasonal wine dinners with chef de cuisine, Marjorie Meek-Bradley; and monthly Industry Takeover nights with guest chefs and mixologists. Brick’s Gem Tasting Menu will be offered for $85 at the six-seat ham bar on Graffiato’s second floor at 8 p.m. every Sunday and Monday. The menu includes food “gems” made of often scare ingredients like lamb neck, pig snout and tuna marrow. Reservations are taken one month in advance by e-mailing requests to events@graffiatodc.com. The five-course Seasonal Wine Dinners will take place one Monday per season. The next wine dinner is set for Monday, March 11, 2013, and will be co-hosted by Italian winemaker, Cesare Benvenuto, from Pio Cesare. Industry Takeover Nights will occur on the first Monday of every month from 10 p.m. - 1 p.m.
