First Taste: Domku

Domku Bar and Café celebrated its ninth anniversary with a big party for old friends and new ones. This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I have to say, it was absolutely adorable.

The chef makes a combination of Slavic and Scandinavian cuisine. Expect homey comfort food. I enjoyed the toasted sunflower seeds and butter along with the Cauliflower in Leek soup topped with hazelnuts.
For the appetizers our favorites were fried pickled herring and the eggplant caviar. I really like the way the flavors popped.
Corey tried the Polish stew with kielbasa, pork, bacon. cabbage, sauerkraut and caraway.
I opted for the Swedish meatballs made with beef, pork, allspice, and lingonberries with a side of mashed potatoes. You can't get more yummy than that! The deliciousness didn't stop with the main courses. The desserts were just as great.
We were big fans of the Swedish almond cake as well as the chocolate ganache tart. So if you're in the Petworth neighborhood stop into Domku Bar and Café and give it a try. You'll love the coziness and happy hospitality.
