Uncorked: Beaulieu Vineyard

As we head into cooler months where the focus shifts to red wines, check out the newly-released Beaulieu Vineyard 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

The California winery, founded in 1900 and known to this day as a “Napa Valley Grand Cru,” has been widely recognized as Rutherford’s standard-setting Cabernet Sauvignon and the new vintage reflects the region’s particular terroir. This robust, full-bodied red is the perfect “splurge” sipper that makes for an outstanding holiday gift, and will help ward off the winter chill.

The 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $33) is made of 100% Cabernet grapes that were handpicked from the BV Rutherford, Calistoga and St. Helena appellations. The wine begins with deep, saturated blackberry, black cherry and ripe plum aromas that unfold with nuances of violet and mocha. Allspice, cinnamon and caramel are integrated from the 15-month aging process in toasted oak barrels for a lingering finish that complements any hearty and comfort food dish. This cabernet is the rare accessible luxury wine: worthy of a splurge on yourself and certainly a welcome gift come time for the holidays.

Cheers!
