Opening: Gong Cha Bubble Tea

Gong Cha, a Bubble Tea Chain that originated in Taiwan in 2006, has opened in Rockville, Maryland! The trendy Taiwanese shop opened at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31st, with a massive line out the door and live entertainers performing outside the new spot. Located at 1800 Rockville Pike in the Galvan at Twinbrook complex, it’s only about a 25-minute drive from downtown D.C. to get the best authentic Bubble Tea in town.

Gong Cha serves made-to-order, freshly brewed teas, coffees, and juices with delicious, chewy tapioca pearls and other interesting toppings. Bubble tea, pearl milk tea, or boba tea are all terms to describe the smoothie-like, creamy beverage. While you sip on your favorite drink, Gong Cha also has a unique dining area and an asian-themed decor, with low-seating areas and fun board games, puzzles, and abstract strategy games to keep you entertained. While you enjoy your unique drink and play Codenames or Connect 4 with friends, you can also sit on soft tree stumps at tiny tables.

The menu at Gong Cha is extensive, allowing you to pick and choose exactly what kind of beverage you want, including sweetness level, ice cube amount, and multiple topping varieties. A few of the interesting toppings include Milk Foam, Basil Seeds, Ai-Yu, Pudding, Coconut Jelly, and of course Pearls! Whether you’re into something sweet, like the sparkling rainbow peach tea or mango smoothie, something creamy like the milk-foam green tea or brown sugar milk tea, or something filled with caffeine, like the milk foam milk coffee, this place can easily quench your thirst craving!
