Holiday Menu Planning

The holidays are always so special because it is a time to reconnect with family and friends. Although it is meant to be a joyful time, sometimes the thought of hosting a large party can trigger lots of stress. Make it special, but keep it simple.
 
Solicit help from friends and family. Maybe this year, you can take on the main dish and a couple of sides and have your guests all contribute a dish as well. Or if you're a guest this year, make sure to offer to bring a dish. I know there are many people that don't cook and their intimidated to get into the kitchen. For those guests, recommend making a salad, rolls, a cheese platter or a simple dip. If everyone contributes something, it will reduce the stress of the host and everyone will be happy.

Make sure to plan time for you. So many times I find myself rushing to get the food done that I don’t have enough time to get myself ready. Schedule in some extra time so that you can relax before your guests arrive.

Here are some menu ideas:

Appetizers:
Spicy Moroccan Hummus
Antipasto Platter
Spinach Balls
Crab Dip
 
Main Course: 
Baked Ham from Dietz and Watson  (These hams are amazing because you can just toss them into the oven and they are done within 10 minutes.)
Pork Tenderloin
Roasted Baby Goat

Sides: Potato Gratin
Roasted Potatoes
