Local Chef Ris Lacoste has expanded her successful restaurant beyond downtown
DC, and has opened a small, 140 square-foot kitchen offering cooking staples
such as stocks, soups, sauces, jams, lamb shanks, etc.
Chef Ris has had a
pop-up presence in Union Market since late 2013, offering holiday goodies such
as chocolate macaroons, cranberry orange bread, and even sweet potato bourbon
soup! The menu is always seasonal, with new items rotating in and out. This
week they had a grilled cheese sandwich with a twist: goat
cheese, grilled red onion and roasted poblano pepper grilled cheese with
tomato soup. I tried the curried goat stew and it was delicious! If you are in Union Market and are
looking for a quick bit to eat, be sure to try a delicious Ris bowl, salads, or
one of her many different fresh pies.
