September 11 - Heaven Hill Distillers Inc.: With more than 1,800 whiskeys on the wall, Jack Rose encourages whiskey exploration, always leading guests through varieties of whisk(e)y, scotch, and this month's featured spirit, bourbon. Every Thursday throughout September, beginning September 4, Jack Rose will showcase a different distillery, ranging from the makers of cult-favorite Willett, to Frankfort, KY's Buffalo Trace Distillery, makers of the uber-rare and in-demand Pappy Van Winkle. Guests can enjoy special pricing on several labels from each distillery, distillery-themed flights, and a special bourbon-centric menu of bites and sweets from Executive Chef Russell Jones.
Thursday kicks off the 11 day DC Short Film Festival. This is the largest short film festival on the east coast. District Doughnut is opening its first store on Barracks Row, Capitol Hill this Friday, September 12, 2014. The store, located at 749 8th St SE, will open Friday, September 12, through Sunday, September 14, from 8AM until we sell out. Saturday and Sunday will feature grand opening festivities including music, games, giveaways, a photobooth, and more.
New outdoor concerts will be presented in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden as a prelude to the upcoming concert season. Inspired by the beloved summer tradition of Jazz in the Garden, concerts take place at noon and 1:00 p.m. on Sundays during the month of September. This fall, Cultural Tourism DC and its presenting partner, Events DC, will host its 15th annual Walking Town DC, returning with more than 50 free, guided neighborhood walking tours from September 15 to September 21. This popular event introduces DC residents and visitors to the art, culture, and history of Washington, DC featuring a series of “bite-size” lunchtime tours, after-work “happy hour” tours, and tours throughout the day on weekends.
