The #SearchingMovie is the perfect computer screen emotional thriller for 2018. We were incredibly connected to the characters as we followed the story of the Kim family through video clips, emails, facetime chats, text messages, social media profiles, and online sites. The filmmaker did an incredible job at merging technology with storytelling.
Throughout the movie I experienced heartbreak, anxiety, nervousness, happiness, sorrow, shock, anger, worry, grief and bliss. Some scenes had me clenching my armrest while other scenes had me tearing up with a smile. The film felt authentic, raw, and perfectly created for this day and age. The home videos were sweet and wholesome, the messenger chats felt so realistic, the online relationships were intimate, the social media personalities were authentic, the search habits were relatable.
#Searching was a great movie about family relationships and how we deal with grief. The film illustrated how people tend to shut down emotionally or deal with emotions through online outlets and social media networks instead of connecting with the ones directly around us. I know I have used Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, you name it, to express how I am feeling and grapple with my struggles instead of working through them in the real world.
#Search is an emotional thriller that will have you glued to the screen even more than you already are glued to your phone, your computer, or any other monitor you spend your days staring into.
#SEARCHING is in theaters this August! I definitely recommend you checking it out at a theater near you. We saw the movie at E Street Cinema in Washington D.C. and enjoyed great drinks from the bar while watching the film.
