Recipe: Pear Crisp

Pears are a nice treat in the fall. Try this pear crisp for a little comfort.

6 pears
Juice of one lemon
Water
1/4 cup apple cider

For a 9" square baking dish, core the pears. Slice pears about 1/4 inch thick and set aside. (a bowl of slightly acidic water with lemon juice will keep them from turning) Drain and toss with apple cider.

Topping:

3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger (optional)

Butter or spray the bottom of baking dish and fill the bottom with sliced pears.Combine all ingredients in a food processor and crumble over pears and bake. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

The aroma will fill your house...yum!
