Pop-ups, MLK Day and More!

Thursday, January 16: Black Squirrel Burger Night -- This Thursday, head over to the Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan to enjoy half priced burgers all night long. The beer bar lets you build your own burger with a variety of gourmet toppings, including house-made guacamole, applewood-smoked bacon and eight kinds of cheese. Get your holiday weekend started off right with Flashdace - The Musical at The Kennedy Center. Jam out to live performances of "What a Feeling" & "I Love Rock and Roll" to celebrate the 30th anniversary if this film classic. Tickets range from $73 - $130, the show begins at 7:30 PM. Newcomer City Tap House, which recently opened in December, will launch Saturday and Sunday brunch service beginning January 18th. Located adjacent to the new City Center, at 901 9th Street, NW, the 180-seat upscale American pub will serve brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Executive Chef Scott Swiderski’s a la carte dishes will range in price from $7 to $26 with artisan pizzas, crab cake benedict, chicken & waffles and foie gras French toast in the mix. Additionally, City Tap House will feature a bottomless brunch bar, which includes endless bloody marys, mimosas and beer-mosas for $18 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).

On Saturday night head to the Lincoln Theatre to witness Several Species: The Pink Floyd Experience. If you are a Pink Floyd fan, this experience isn't one to miss. The Lincoln Theatre is conveniently located at 1215 U St, about one block from the U Street metro stop. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are still available for $35.


Richard Sandoval’s Restaurants including Ambar, Masa 14, El Centro DF, El Centro Georgetown and Zengo will be serving bottomless brunch this coming Monday, January 20th for the MLK holiday. 


Join Bourbon Steak DC on Monday, January 20, at 7:00pm for its first F(l)ight Club dinner of 2014. This particular F(l)ight Club dinner will be a battle between DC’s top mixologists – Chantal Tseng and JP Featherston of Mockingbird Hill – and Bourbon Steak’s own Jamie MacBain and Duane Sylvestre. Executive Chef John Critchley will create a special five-course menu for the dinner and the competing bartenders will pair each dish with the cocktail of their choice. Attendees will then vote for their favorite pairings as well as the all-around winner of the evening. ‘industree’s (www.dcindustree.com) next event is scheduled on Tuesday, January 21st, 2014 from 12:30PM to 3:30PM at The Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002). This one-of-a-kind event is slated to feature an intimate look inside the success stories of celebrated ‘Young Blood’ chef/ owners ages 35 and under in the DC area, how they got started in the hospitality industry, and what it took to get them to where they are today. 

Diners looking to get a sneak peek of Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley’s menu at soon-to-open Roofers Union can preview menu items January 22 and 23 at Ripple, the Chef’s beloved Cleveland Park haunt. Meek-Bradley will serve her creative takes on everyday food alongside her regular menu before Roofers Union opens in Adams Morgan at the end of January
