Parmigiano Reggiano Academy at Righteous Cheese -- Parmigiano Reggiano is often called the King of Cheese – and you can receive a royal education this Thursday at Righteous Cheese at 7pm. The Union Market vendor will be doing a vertical tasting of true Parm at 3 different ages, paired with 2 very different wines as well as paired accompaniments. You’ll discover the nuance and complexity of this classic cheese, as well as discover the history and culture surrounding it. Fromager Carolyn Stromberg will delve into the story of Parm, as well as give advice about selecting, serving, pairing, and more. On Friday, February 28, Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro and The Wine Cabinet will host a special wine dinner featuring critically-acclaimed wines and Executive Chef John-Michael Hamlet's fine European-influenced cuisine.

March 1: BlackSalt Restaurant will partner with Maryland’s Barren Island Oyster Company and Anderson Valley, CA’s Roederer Estate to host a sparkling wine and oyster tasting. The tasting, led by Tim Devine of Barren Island Oyster company, and BlackSalt sommelier Joshua Pauley, will feature Maryland oysters on the half shell, and wood-grilled and bacon-wrapped oysters, all paired with Roederer Estate’s sparkling wines made in the traditional méthode champenoise.

Crazy about hops? The join Dogfish Head Alehouse in Falls Church, VA, on Monday, March 3 for “A-Hop-Eclipse” beer dinner – an explosive celebration of Dogfish’s off-centered, hop-centric ales. The four course menu includes the 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, Hellhound, and Burton Baton, paired with entrees such as a three-cheese beer soup with crostini and “Beer Can” Cornish Game Hen with baked red potatoes and vegetables.
