Thinking of Drinking: Gold and Grain

The Rye Bar at Capella Washington DC, Georgetown  since opening in March 2013 has become one of the capital city’s highly-rated establishments for innovative craft cocktails and fine American rye whiskeys.   Check out their recipe for Gold and Grain!

o 1 ½ OZ Smooth Ambler Rye Whiskey

o ¼ OZ Lemon Juice

o ¼ OZ Simply Syrup

o ¼ OZ Orange Shrubs

· Add ice to glass. Pour ingredients that consist of: Stir ingredients with a bar spoon.  Garnish with Lemon twist.

Now The Rye Bar is offering guests an opportunity to learn more about these creative beverages and discovering the spot’s new summer cocktails with its signature “Cocktail Series” mixology classes helmed by one of D.C.’s top bartenders and veteran, Angel Cervantes. The following are the dates for the upcoming classes:

Rye Bar Cocktail Series (duration of each class is two hours):

· Saturday, August 16th at 6:00 pm

· Saturday, September 20th at 6:00 pm

Cervantes has served as Head Bartender at some of D.C.’s top watering holes such as Mark Miller's Red Sage and Michele Richard's Citronelle. 

Guests will be feted with canapés and small bites after the class has concluded followed by a three-course meal with cocktail pairings. Upon completion of the class, guests will also receive a Rye Bar embroidered Lewis Bag. Guests will work on five cocktails over the course of two hours.
