Upcoming Events: Rum and Beer

Rooftop Rum & Smoke Soiree | Thursday, August 14th | 6pm to 9pm #RumNSmoke:  Atop Georgetown’s trendy Graham Hotel, distinguished guests will be treated to premium flights of aged rum from Rum Day DC sponsors. Aged rums are traditionally aged in barrels and top the list in quality for each rum brand’s portfolio. Tasty hors d’oeuvres include premium beef sliders, curry chicken, veggie samosas, and mini crab cakes. Additionally, guests will receive a complimentary cigar courtesy of the co-hosts, Georgetown Tobacco to perfectly pair with the bold tastes of these sipping rums. The Rum Runner Party Bus | Friday, August 15th | 6pm to 10pm #RumRunner:  Bottomless premium rum cocktails will flow as passengers embark on a multi-destination bar crawl through some of DC’s trendiest stops, which include:Lincoln, Smith Public Trust, The Atlas Room, and Farmers Fishers Bakers. The Rum Runner experience begins at Smith Public Trust and includes: bottomless specialty rum cocktails while onboard, gift card raffles, prizes, and more. Rum Runners can expect festive rum-fueled stops and popular hors d’oeuvres at each of the locations below. Tickets: $45

The 2nd Annual Rum-B-Que | Satrday, August 16th | 1pm to 5pm #RumBQue:  Live from the Rum-B-Que… Rum Day DC’s closeout event will take place on National Rum Day (August 16th) at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, located at 2007 18th Street NW. Chef Russell Jones will be serving up mouth-watering BBQ deliciousness from the wood-fired grill, to include pulled pork sliders, pork belly skewers, grilled chicken and more, all complimented with specialty rum-infused Rum-B-Que sauce. Party highlights include education and rum tasting areas, six (6) signature bottomless punch stations featuring creations from award-winning beverage director Trevor Frye and the Jack Rose bar team. Each punch will feature a premium sponsored rum. Special vendors highlighting rum-inspired complimentary deserts will also be in attendance to satisfy that sweet tooth. All this, from Jack Rose’s open-air rooftop terrace. Tickets: $65

Sunday, August 17 – Brewery Ommegang, Boulevard Brewery and The Odyssey present “The Official DC Beer Week Kick-Off Cruise” – Brewery Ommegang and Boulevard Brewery in conjunction with Odyssey Cruises have brought back one of DCBW’s hottest tickets. After a year off, The Odyssey will once again be the kick-off spot for DC Beer Week and will feature some amazing brews from these American craft brew staples. “As a DCBW committee, we have evaluated many times how to bring the craft beer cruise back to this festive week. We are excited to work with Odyssey Cruises once again. We find this to be the ideal way to kick off what looks to be the most dynamic DCBW to date.” Says Steven Cardello, DCBW Board Member & Director of Sales-South at Duvel USA. Monday, August 18 – DC Brau’s 3rd Annual Crab Fest at Quarterdeck– DC Brau and the Quarterdeck are teaming up once again. Celebrate indigenous beer and these indigenous mid-Atlantic delicacies at the Quarterdeck Restaurant located at 1200 Fort Meyer Drive in Arlington, VA. Tuesday, August 19 – 30 Beers for 30 Years with Sam Adams – This food and beer event celebrates 30 years of craft beer with Samuel Adams. Join Samuel Adams and the Washington City Paper to sample 30 unique styles of Samuel Adams beers paired with bites prepared by 30 of the DMV’s top chefs. The event will take place at Longview Gallery 1234 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001 and tickets are $55 for general admission and $75 for early admission and special appearances. Wednesday, August 20 – RFD’s Coast to Coast Tap Takeover – RFD in Chinatown is throwing an epic regional tap takeover, featuring $5 pints from more than 20 American craft breweries on all 45of their draft lines that night starting at 4:00 PM. Breweries from all five of the country’s beer regions will be represented, including Abita, Sam Adams, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Allagash, Star Hill,Boulevard, Hardywood, Brooklyn Brewery, Ommegang, Anchor Brewing and Terrapin, to name a few.
