Thinking of Drinking: Apple Pie Julep

Let the games begin for the Kentucky Derby and make this Apple Pie Julep!

2 oz. Koval Bourbon 
1 oz. Apple Cinnamon Syrup 

In a Boston shaker combine bourbon, apple cinnamon syrup, and a handful of fresh mint. Double strain over crushed ice. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig. 

Apple Cinnamon Syrup 

1 cup water 
1 cup sugar 
1 teaspoon tahitian vanilla extract 
1.5 teaspoons cinnamon 
2 apples, sliced 

For syrup, combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for five minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for an hour. Pour syrup into a glass jar through cheesecloth. Let cool.
