We had an incredible time at the Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC this past weekend. We met with remarkable food industry professionals, entrepreneurs, chefs, bakers, and foodies all with their own unique products and distinctive brands. Although I sampled dozens of specialty products from all across the globe, I didn’t even get close to meeting with the hundreds of interesting people or trying the thousands of products that lined the Javits Convention Center.
The specialty product scene was incredible. I couldn’t believe all of the foods I was missing out on! Although it was hard, I came up with a list of my top 5 favorite products that I will be on the lookout for this summer.
Jeni’s Ice Cream has a brick and mortar shop in Washington D.C. that just opened up last fall. You’ve probably seen the line of foodies waiting to try her incredible ice cream, but you can also buy her tubs at Whole Foods, Dean & Deluca, Mom’s Organic Market, and other specialty shops. Wherever you decide to go, you MUST try her new Frose sorbet. As soon as I had a bite, I wanted to down the whole tub or open up a bottle of rose and make an incredible and refreshing smoothie. I can’t wait to try this with all my girls while we watch terrible reality tv together or lay by the pool.
This product was incredible, inside and out. I initially stopped at this booth because of the beautiful glass bottles, but when I tasted the refreshing beverage, I wanted so much more! Wine Water from O.Vine is a light and refreshing, non-alcoholic drink, perfect for brunching in the heat! O. Vine uses extracts from grapes with pure spring water to create the perfect drink for summer.
This specialty product was SO interesting, I had to try it more than once! I was apprehensive of having to bite into ice cream – my teeth are so sensitive! However, my fears were completely forgotten when I tasted the incredible sweet rice dough exterior and creamy ice cream interior. It was so foreign being able to hold my ice cream in my hand and stretch it out, squeeze it, even throw it in the air! These incredible desserts were so unique, and they had so many flavors! The brand just came out with vegan, non-dairy options as well! I know my nieces and nephews are going to think this is the coolest summer snack they have ever had. You can find 'em in Safeway, Costco, Harris Teeter, Wegman’s, Mom’s Organics, Price Chopper, Hyvee, Publix, and so many other grocery stores and specialty shops! Be the cool relative or host and buy these treats immediately!
This adorable brand is reinventing the protein bar with a natural, plant-based, bite-sized, and DELICIOUS product! After popping one of the birthday bites into my mouth I could immediately see myself snacking on these guys while grinding at work, or adding them to my breakfast bowl, and they are SO GOOD! They use natural flavors, and are completely vegan, gluten free, kosher, BPA free, and soy free! The Birthday Cake was my fave, but they also have cookie dough, dark chocolate brownie, lemon poppy seed, snickerdoodle, and other specialty flavors!
This product immediately reminded me of my mom. I wanted to be sitting outside on our back patio, eating a delicious cheese plate and gossiping with my mom while sipping our favorite wines with these cute wine sticks. I know my mom’s friends would think these are SO cute on their next girl’s trip to our lakehouse -- and they are so yummy!
