Restaurant Reviews: South Florida

City Oyster & Sushi Bar

When we arrived to Florida, it was getting late and we were hungry.  We cruised Atlantic Avenue looking for the perfect spot and finally came across City Oyster and Sushi Bar.  My hubbie loves oysters so he tried some of their finest.  I just can't get over the texture so I stuck with the Mahi Mahi  served over the creamiest polenta and a Yummy Roll with crab, avocado, shrimp, etc.  The name speaks for itself.  Yum!  City Oyster also has a good beer selection and wine list.  Fun and lively atmosphere and nice servers.

Dolce Amore Cafe

The next morning we were hungry for brunch and I did a little searching and found a cute little place called Dolce Amore.   I describe it as a hidden gem... we were the only people in the restaurant and the food was great.  Everyone was happy with their meals.  Waffles, eggs, bacon, potatoes...  Only drawback is that they didn't have Bloody Marys or Mimosas:(  Sorry, but when we're on vacation, we like a morning cocktail.  The owner is chatty and fun.

Prime One Twelve

The place to see and be seen and to get your drinks spilled all over.  The place is packed so when you arrive, plan to get a drink at the bar even if you have reservations.  Also, plan on getting knocked into... They have a delicious cocktail selection for only $15 each.  That's right, get ready to open your pocket book when you walk in the door, but you won't be disappointed by the food and drinks.  We almost had to get rolled out after stuffing ourselves on the tuna sliders, truffle mac n cheese and the huge filet mignon.  This restaurant is a fun spot to splurge!

Cabana El Rey

Fun atmosphere and good Latin food.   Good empanadas and fish.  Cocktails were a little to sweet for my taste.  My only complaint is getting charged for birthday cake.  What happened to the days when restaurants do complimentary gestures for their customers to celebrate?
