Meet King of the Kitchen Competitors Chef Kaz Okochi and Chef Todd Gray

The Legg Mason Tennis Classic is not all about tennis this year, this time food is involved. No, the players will not be required to hit apples instead of tennis balls; rather, two local chefs, Chef Toddy Gray and Chef Kaz Okochi, will go head to head tonight in the inaugural King of the Kitchen event.

Chef Kaz Okochi

Chef Kaz Okochi opened his Kaz Sushi Bistro in downtown Washington, D.C. in 1999. The forward thinking chef incorporated traditional and modern flavors to create a new style of Japanese cuisine, which he calls "freestyle Japanese cuisine." This new approach earned Chef Kaz Okochi's restaurant one of the top five restaurants to open in 1999. His success continued to 2006, when his creative cuisine earned him the Informal Dining Restaurant of the Year.

Chef Todd Gray

Already an accomplished chef when he opened Equinox, Chef Todd Gray is an avid promoter of Mid-Atlantic ingredients. His support of local ingredients has led him to become a champion of humanely raised livestock and organic produce. A passionate believer in healthy and fresh ingredients, Chef Gray also works with the First Lady's 'Chefs Move to Schools' program. Chef Todd Gray has been nominated for five James Beard Awards and won the RAMW award for Best Fine Dining in 2008.
