Around the Globe: South African Airways

17 hours on a plane never felt so good.  South African Airways features daily roundtrip nonstop service from the U.S. to South Africa with afternoon direct service from Washington Dulles (with a stop in Dakar, Senegal).

Finding out we got upgraded to business class sure was an amazing way to begin our African adventure.  The seats were extremely comfortable (folding out to a flat bed) and the staff was friendly and attentive.  We were presented with a menu featuring South Africa's leading wines.
Desserts were my favorite including, tiramisu, key lime cheesecake and chocolate mousse.  I also enjoyed the sugar plum frangipane pancake for breakfast.
The 17 hours passed by like a breeze thanks to South African Airways.  I liked the movie selection and got a fair amount of rest.
The little bags had all of the comfort essentials:  eye mask, socks, ear plugs, tooth brush, hair brush, lotion, etc.We landed in Johannesburg feeling quite refreshed.  I wish all flying was this pleasurable.  Thanks South African Airways for making fond memories to the start of our journey.

Once we landed we were off to the luxurious oasis of the Saxon and greeted by friends.  More to come about The Saxon and next up, I'll tell you about my first safari at Sabi Sabi Reserve.
