On Thursday, May 15, craft beer fanatics will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with DC's 3 Stars Brewing at the first ever 3 Stars Beer Social at Pinstripes. At the complimentary event, guests will enjoy passed Pinstripes fare while the 3 Stars team chats brewing methods, philosophy and pours tastes of different brews. Founded in 2011 by Dave Coleman and Mike McGarvey, 3 Stars has become of on DC's most buzzed-about artisanal brewers, currently offering a line-up of over 12 handcrafted beers.. Friday, May 16th is National Pizza Party Day and Vapiano will be celebrating at all six DC area locations. Guests who order any of their 18 handcrafted, made-to-order pizzas will receive a single serving of small dolci on the house. The pizzas at Vapiano are made using only the freshest ingredients including yeast, fine flour, pure water, quality rapeseed oil, sugar and sea salt. Standouts not to be missed include the Roasted Tomato and Garlic with roasted garlic, spring herbs, goat cheese, oven roasted tomatoes and mozzarella; Arugula with Grana Padano D.O.P., tomato sauce and mozzarella; Pesto Con Spinachi with fresh spinach, pesto cream sauce, marinated tomatoes and mozzarella; Truffled Wild Mushroom with demi cream sauce, wild mushrooms, radicchio, ricotta, truffle oil and mozzarella; Tropicale with ham, pineapple, tomato sauce and mozzarella, as well as Chicken Barbeque Pizzas with smoked gouda, red onions, mozzarella, tomato relish, cilantro. Pizza prices range from $8.95 to $11.95. The dolci choices include Tiramisu; Crema di Fragola, mascarpone cream with fresh strawberries; Panna Cotta, a blend of vanilla and cream topped with strawberry sauce, or the Chocolate Mousse, whipped semi-sweet chocolate and cream.
Toro Toro, located at 1300 I Street, NW, 20005, will launch Saturday and Sunday weekend brunch service beginning May 17th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval and Chef de Cuisine Stephen Hartzell’s free-flowing brunch is priced at $39 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Guests will enjoy a tantalizing selection of hot and cold savory plates and desserts, plus Toro Toro’s “Rodizio Experience,” a selection of hot-off-the-spit meats that are carved and ready for indulging. There is also a cornucopia of side dishes, as well as four mimosa cocktails and a Bloody Mary bar to quench one’s thirst. This free flowing brunch invites repeat trips to try the different offerings showcased and must be ordered by the entire table.
On Sunday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m., Executive Chef Carmen Hibbert and the National Aquarium’s Executive Chef Joe Cotton, will team up for the Aquarium’s Fresh Thoughts Sustainable Dining Series to demonstrate and cook a lionfish dinner.
