City Tap House, located at 901 9th Street, NW, 20001, is celebrating Independence Day with a BeerBQ Brewery Battle on Friday, July 4th. City Tap House’s culinary team will go head-to-head against representatives from 3 Stars Brewing Company and Evolution Craft Brewing Company in a BeerBQ cookoff from 12 Noon to 5 PM. Furthermore, guests are encouraged to participate in their July 4th cornhole tournament, which will be held on the restaurant’s expansive outdoor patio throughout the afternoon. There is no cost to enter, but teams are asked to register by Thursday, July 3rd by contacting Liz Gartzke at egartzke@publichouseusa.com. The winner of the single elimination tournament will receive a gift certificate redeemable to City Tap House. 

For the BeerBQ Battle, guests pay $10 to enjoy BBQ favorites prepared by representatives from 3 Stars Brewing Company and Evolution Craft Brewing Company along with City Tap House’s house-made sides including potato salad, coleslaw and watermelon. Guests are encouraged to cast their vote for their favorite BBQ, and a winner will be named at 5 PM. For the perfect pairing, City Tap House will load their beer lines with 10 drafts from 3 Stars Brewing Company and 10 drafts from Evolution Craft Brewing Company, priced at $5 each. Down the street at Cuba Libre DC will be serving a special BBQ Bento Box in addition to their regular a la carte lunch and dinner menus on Friday, July 4th. Priced at $16.50, the BBQ Bento Box includes: Guava BBQ Riblets - Cuba Libre's award-winning St. Louis cut pork ribs, slow-cooked and glazed with guava BBQ sauce. Jicama-Sambal slaw; Lechón Sandwich Slider-Pulled pork, roasted poblano and charred tomatoes, guava BBQ sauce, crispy onions and Vigorón slaw. House fried potatoes; Churrasco Slider - Hand-chopped skirt steak, Cuba Libre’s secret sauce, cheddar and Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato on a toasted brioche. Those looking for a relaxing Friday, July 4th cookout will want to plan to visit 701 Restaurant’s inviting outdoor patio, situated next to the Navy Memorial Fountain, as Executive Chef Benjamin Lambert will be pulling out all the stops for a BBQ from 4 PM to 9 PM. Guests can anticipate an a la carte menu with starter snacks such asGreen Eggs and Ham; Crispy Chicken Wings with mustard miso glaze; Grilled Romaine Salad with herb emulsion and parmesan, and Pimento Cheese Ritz Crackers, which are priced from $4-$8.



Hot off the grill items on July 4th will include the 701 Burger, Pulled Pork sandwich with coleslaw and moppin sauce; Grilled Half Chicken with Peri peri sauce and a Beef Hot Dog Chicago style, ranging in price from $8-$15. Chef Lambert’s tempting house-made sides will include Mexican Grilled Corn with cotija, lime and cilantro, Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Cornbread, and will range in price from $4-$8. Wines from 701’s extensive list will be available by the glass and bottle, along with beers and summer cocktails, for the outdoor festivities on the patio. This July 4th, Richard Sandoval’s six sister restaurants will each celebrate with patriotic deals including bottomless brunches, featured cocktails, happy hour specials and live late night DJ’s. Four of the restaurants will also feature $5 margaritas. Masa 14 and Zengo will offer three celebratory margaritas, a Red, a White, and aBlue, while El Centro D.F. and El Centro D.F. Georgetown will offer one margarita with all three flavors in one glass the Red, White & Blue Frozen Margarita, to celebrate this day patriotic day.

Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken has assembled a festive spread for firework-watchers and picnic-goers alike, including eight pieces of their signature fried chicken, three USA doughnuts, three birthday cake doughnuts, and one pint potato salad for $36. The birthday cake doughnut, in honor of America's birthday, is a chocolate cake doughnut with vanilla glaze, buttercream and colorful sprinkles from India Tree in Seattle, a specialty confection company that uses concentrated vegetable colorants in their sprinkles and no synthetic dyes. The patriotic USA Doughnut doughnut is a vanilla glaze confection with raspberry drizzle, blueberries and the letters USA piped in chocolate.
