This Saturday (Oct. 13th) head down to Yard's Park for the first ever
Snallygaster Oktoberfest. The brew-loving team behind dozens of events
at Churchkey, Rustico and Birch and Barley are bringing you a
craft beer Oktoberfest like you've never seen before. The inaugural
Snallygaster will take over Yards Park from 1PM - 5PM and boasts a 100+
Beer List celebrating classic lagers, German style & inspired
brews, seasonal pours and many more. While sipping, enjoy live music,
kids activities and perfectly paired food such as bacon-wrapped brats
and Disco Fries. Yards Park is located 3rd and Water Street S.E. The
entrance fee for the festival is $5 and proceeds benefit the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture.
Additional food and beverage tickets can be purchased onsite for $1
each. Advanced tickets can also be purchased for $25 or $50 on the Snallygaster website.
Fall Mixology Classes: Spice up your ‘at-home’ bartending skills by attending Ripple’s Fall Mixology Classes on Saturday, October 13 or Saturday, October 20 from 3:30 – 5:00pm. Ripple’s mixolog.ist, Josh Berner, will instruct guests about the fat-washing process to make three delicious cocktails from Ripple’s menu—Play It Sam, Chile Manteca y Ducle, and Basil Exposition. These cocktails feature oil-infused gin, bacon-infused mexcal and olive oil-washed vodka. As part of the class, guests will enjoy these cocktails as they learn, as well as have the opportunity to try Ripple’s grilled cheese bar. Cost for the class is $45, which includes the cocktails. James Beard award-winning chef Ann Cashion and celebrity Top Chef finalist and TV personality Carla Hall, currently a host on ABC’s culinary show, The Chew, will jointly host a book signing reception for Charlotte Druckman’s new tell-all book titled Skirt Steak: Women Chefs on Standing the Heat and Staying in the Kitchen, on Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 6 PM to 8 PM, at Johnny’s Half Shell. Taco Bamba Pops Up at Black Jack: Taco Bamba,
the first solo project from Chef Victor Albisu, is testing his menu for
his restaurant set to open later this fall in Falls Church, Virginia
with a series of taco nights at Jeff Black’s Black Jack. The series kicks off with a Taco Bamba party on Monday, October 22. The $40, one-price admission includes unlimited passed and stationed food and specialty cocktails. Advance purchase is recommended and available online. Taco Bamba Nights begin on Monday, October 29 and run through December 17 with an a la carte menu of tacos, snacks and anything Chef Albisu decides to test that week.
