Recipe: Vegetarian Sunday Dishes with Seasonal Roots

One of my favorite things to do after work is pick up my delivery box full of fresh produce and think up delicious recipes to make for the weekend. Every Sunday, my closest girlfriends come over to my condo to decompress, drink wine, and watch bad TV together. Someone brings the bottle of wine (or more realistically, bottles*), someone is always picking up flowers, and I always request a block or two of cheese and a shareable dessert, but I cook up the dishes to snack on throughout the night.

Who doesn’t love farmers markets? I love getting the freshest ingredients, buying local, helping the agri-business community, and knowing that what I am eating was farmed sustainably. However, living in the city and juggling multiple jobs means a lot of the time I end up picking up some OK groceries at the Giant down the street. Ugh…

Dirty Habit, a luxe restaurant and bar in Washington, D.C.’s Penn Quarter neighborhood, is where you’ll find me after work. The spot offers a vivid social scene, a high-end cocktail program, delicious eats, and a beautiful private urban patio. The space is located literally 180 steps from the Capital One Arena - but is tucked away in the perfect spot.

So many incredible Embassy Chefs gathered together in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center this week to compete in the 11th Annual Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge presented by TCMA! Foodies from around the District got to sip and savor dishes from around the world! It was an incredible night filled with live music, delicious liquor, and unique spices!
