Birthday Bash at Dupont Circle FRESHFARM Market on Sunday, July 15.  An old-fashioned birthday party at the site of the very first market marks the final tribute to the 15th Anniversary of FRESHFARM Markets.  The party will be held in the original market location in the PNC Bank parking lot at Massachusetts Avenue and P Street, N.W. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The party is free, but donations are happily accepted.

Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar will celebrate Ernest Hemingway’s 113th birthday with special menu showcasing dishes and cocktails from his favorite Cuban restaurant, El Floridita.  Hemingway was so fond of Cuba that he kept a home there in the 1940s and '50s, during which time he frequented El Floridita, a historic fish restaurant and cocktail bar in Old Havana, and fell in love with fresh fish and strong daiquiris.  To honor Hemingway and to celebrate National Daiquiri Day, Cuba Libre is creating a prix fixe menu reproducing some of the dishes and cocktails Hemingway would have enjoyed at the restaurant.  The menu will be available July 15-22.  Then on Thursday, July 19th, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Cuba Libre will celebrate National Daiquiri Day with a special happy hour offer of $5 El Floridita Cocktails and Papa Dobles in addition to its ongoing popular Caippy Hour menu.
