Dining Out: Fogo de Chao

The classic Brazilian Steakhouse – Fogo de Chao – is the perfect spot to dine in style this summer!

I hadn’t been back to Fogo in years. There are so many incredible places to eat in the District that for some reason Fogo kept getting pushed to the side. However, it started heating up here and I thought the best way to enjoy the summer heat was to dig into some delicious grilled eats!

I had brought up to my colleagues that I would be dining at Fogo, and immediately they all started shouting out different things they loved about the Brazilian Steakhouse.

“That salad bar!! Mmmm, but don’t fill up on it!”

“Have you had the bananas?!”

“The cheesy bread there is AMAZING”

“I had my card flipped over on green all night.”

What’s your favorite thing about Fogo?! After my dining experience – I am a little torn. Being a side girl – the salad bar was absolutely incredible. Little did I know that the Fogo Churrasco Experience not only came with the extensive market table of fresh and flavorful dishes, but it also came with unlimited cheesy bread, creamy pashed potatoes, crispy polenta, and caramelized bananas. Are you kidding me?! I had to force myself to stop eating one thing just so I could eat something else!

So, what did I get? What were the best eats? What do you need to try?!

Let’s start with what everyone loves: The Cocktails.

Fogo has some delicious summer drinks that are super refreshing and inventive. A few of my favorites were:

The Mango Habanero: with Silver Cachaco, Limes, Mangos, and Habanero Peppers

The Strawberry Hibiscus: with Silver Cachaco, House-made Hibiscus Syrup, Strawberries, and Lime

The Cucumber Mint Smash: with Tito’s Vodka, Muddled Cucumber, Fresh Mint, and Lime

The Fogo Premium Calpirinha: with Fogo Premium Aged Cachaco, Fresh Muddled Limes, and Cane Sugar

For the Appetizers:

The incredible Grilled Lobster and Shrimp dish with warm butter.

The Salad Bar

The Entrée:

Obviously the entrée is a never-ending supply of cuts. We had medium-rare filet mignon, bacon wrapped chicken and steaks, spicy pork sausages, juicy Parmesan chicken, and multiple fire-roasted lamb cuts. Every bite was so juicy and flavorful! I had my card flipped over green far too much!!

The Sides:

All of the sides were incredible, but my two favorites were the Mashed Potatoes and the Caramelized Bananas. Yum!!

The Dessert:

For dessert, we tried the refreshing and absolutely delicious Crème de Coconut with ice-cream on top and an after-dinner Bailey’s Coffee.

I can’t wait to go back again! Go check out the spot near Metro Center on your next date night! For reservations and more information, go to: Fogo de Chao
