There’s one more option on the restaurant scene in Georgetown, but you have to catch it quick because it will be gone before you know it. For one week only, BBQ Bus DC teams up with Uncurbed to move their operation indoors.
The pop-up restaurant is meant to look like someone’s home. There are the separate rooms with seating: the living room, the office and the gallery. I found the living room to be the coziest with a Christmas tree, faux fireplace, family mementos and photos scattered around the room. The intent was to make you feel as though you were at someone’s house party and they definitely delivered.
The menu changes daily so you’ll have to look for updates on Twitter. At a pre-opening event I had the opportunity to try the vegetarian Ancho Black Bean Chili Cheeseburger ($11.50). The spices were amazing with patty was so thick and flavorful that I really didn’t miss the meat. The ancho chili really came through as well with a deep smoky taste. The sandwich was served with crispy, sweet, lightly-dressed slaw and a side of chips. Each table also has a bottle of their three signature sauces so you can dress up your sandwich. Unlike the food truck, you can also order beer and wine to accompany your meal.
Uncurbed DC runs December 13 – 17 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
