Upcoming Events: The “Papal” Pionono and More!

Ceiba, Washington, DC’s Latin-inspired restaurant, will celebrate the authentic flavors of Argentina and the Pope’s new Italian residency with specialty items that day. The “Papal” Pionono with Dulce de Leche, Whipped Cream and Blueberry Acai Syrup will nod to one of Argentina’s most loved pastries, while the Pan-Roasted Branzino with Warm Orzo Salad and Chimichurri Roja blends the two cultures – and adheres to any Lenten diet. Let Them Eat Pie:  Taste your way to the top at the Semifinal round of the 2013 Makes-Me-Wanna Shout! Pie Baking Challenge on Saturday, March 23 from 2-4 pm.  Attendees are invited to join the official judges in a tasting to decide which pies will advance to the Final Five round (to be held at Eatonville Restaurant in April).  Ticket sales for the Semifinals will benefit Martha’s Table to support on-going programs that serve at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in the DC community and help them improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing and enrichment opportunities.  Tickets are $20 a person and may be purchased at or visit for more information.

Devils Backbone + Sushi Pairing Event at Farmers Fishers Bakers:  The Craft Brewers Conference is coming to town (March 25-29) and Farmers Fishers Bakers is getting in on the action. The restaurant is teaming up with Devils Backbone Brewing Company to offer a multi-course beer and sushi pairing on Tuesday, March 26 from 7-9pm. Executive Sushi Chef Thomas Park and Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo have created a special menu of sushi tasting plates paired with five of the Virginia brewery's craft beers. Almost as good as sitting courtside, Jack Rose will host a Courtside Happy Hour where fans can 'Eat for Free, Drink for Almost Free' during March Madness. Annual Craft Brewers Conference Beer Events at Jack Rose Dining Saloon:  The Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) has chosen to host its annual show in the increasingly-popular small brew destination of DC from March 26-29 and Jack Rose is hosting a week of exciting, beer-focused events to celebrate!
·         Tuesday – Flying Dog and Cigar Pairings:  Starting at 10pm, Jack Rose will transform into a beer + cigar lounge, featuring pairings of Flying Dog brews with fine cigars from W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist. Flying Dog will take over two floors of Jack Rose's new draft lines, with 10 specialty brews including Brewhouse Rarities and limited release beers including the new Bloodline Blood Orange IPA, as well as rare beers from other breweries.

·         Wednesday – Gnomegangnam Style Party and Feast of the Iron Throne Dinner: Jack Rose will have $6 drafts of Gnomegang, a special seasonal release Belgian Strong Ale from Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY. There will also be dancing, prizes for best Psy costumes & Gangnam Style dancing.  For the dinner, Jack Rose is hosting a six-course feast showcasing Ommegang's newest release with HBO, the show-inspired Iron Throne beer which is set to be publicly released in late March. ·         Thursday – DC Craft Beer Tour: Join us on a Craft Beer Tour of 5-6 of DC's finest beer establishments - one of the premiere stops being Jack Rose. From 6-11:30 pm in Jack Rose's Balcony Room, guests can chat with the owners of 21st Amendment, Elysian, Uinta and more and taste rare specialty beers. The ticket also includes food specials and a gift bag with a specialty beer glass from Spiegelau. Tickets are available for $52 at  

·         Friday – “EPIC” Tap Takeover:  Starting at 5pm, an "epic" conclusion to CBC week, Jack Rose's 20 brand-new taps will be overtaken by some of the most unique, hard-to-find beers from Utah's Epic Brewing Co.
