Taste of Georgetown Kick-off Party

By Claire Goldman

Georgetown BID hosted a small Kick-off party for this weekend's upcoming Taste of Georgetown.  Three of the staple restaurant participants of the neighborhood street festival were represented:  Clyde's, Paolo's and J. Paul's.   Each served up unique and specially crafted mini-servings at the Boffi retail store in Georgetown.

First up, I tried the Green Tomato Gaspacho at the Clyde's table.  The cold soup was very refreshing and the crab meat topping added the perfect hint of flavor.  I suspect this cool yet savory dish will earn a great deal of taster-tickets in the heat of Saturday's festival.

I am a huge slider fan so I was pleasantly surprised when I headed over to the J. Paul's station. They served a delightful mini-burger topped with special sauce and adorned with a dill pickle and pepperoni.  This is sure to be a favorite among Taste of Georgetown guests.
Paulo's Ristorante of Georgetown went with two of their signature pasta dishes.  The Fettuccine Carbonara which includes the 3 P's:  pancetta, peas and Parmesan cream sauce.  The other choice is the Spaghetti Pomodoro which features the staples of Italian cuisine: tomato, basil and extra virgin olive oil.

Be sure to head to Taste of Georgetown website to check out all of the participating restaurants.  While you're there you can also pick up advance food and drink tasting tickets.  Don't miss 60 signature dishes from 30 popular Georgetown dining spots at Taste of Georgetown this Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11 AM - 4 PM at Wisconsin Ave and M Street.
