Upcoming Events: Cherry Blossom Menu and More

The special Cherry Blossom 3-course menu at Equinox Restaurant (818 Connecticut Ave., NW) available now through April 27th will celebrate the cherry blossom festival with festive dishes complete with wine pairings. Start with a Cherry Lime Collins Cocktail upon arrival served with Toasted Brioche and Kiln Dried Cherry Tapenade. For the first course, enjoy Ravioli of Lobster and Gulf Prawns with Sumo Citrus Butter, Radish Sprouts, and Fried Nori paired with Momo Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2010. For the main course, enjoy a Slow Cooked Breast of Pennsylvania Pekin Duck with Soba Noodle, Shiso, Nameko Mushrooms, and Black Tea Broth paired with Carmel Roast Pinot Noir, Monterey 2010. To conclude, enjoy a Bittersweet Chocolate Tart with Yuzu Curd Geltao and Coaco Coulis paired with Elio Perone Biagro, Italy 2010. The 3-course menu is just $75 and includes beverages, tax & gratuity.

On April 3, Think Local First DC will host a workshop at Busboys and Poets on 5th and K designed to help local entrepreneurs, foodies, and aspiring restaurant owners become equipped with the tools and knowledge to open their own establishments. The event, Ingredients for Success: How to Launch and Operate a Restaurant in DC, will connect local leaders in a unique and collaborative learning forum and will explore everything from licensing, leases, concepts, HR best practices, and doing businesses in DC. Trade Grand Tasting and Seminar: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 Members of the trade can explore the rapidly-growing wine region with two exclusive events taking place at Hotel Palomar: a wine seminar (1:30 - 2:30 p.m.) and a trade-only tasting (2:30 - 5:30 p.m.). Guests will learn about the expanding new wine destination during a classroom-style wine seminar featuring regional trends from several Paso Robles winemaker personalities. Immediately following is a walk-around tasting featuring varietals ranging from Cabernet Sauvignon and Rhône style wines, to Sauvignon Blanc and Tempranillo. “An Evening with Common Threads – Chefs Celebrating Children in the Kitchen.”  Hosted by two-time James Beard Award winner and Common Threads founder Art Smith, along with co-hosts Chef Carla Hall and Mary Beth Albright, the evening will raise funds to support the non-profit organizations life changing hands-on cooking classes.
