Upcoming Events: Beer, Cherry Blossoms and More

On Saturday, March 17th from 2 PM to 4 PM, Bill Butcher, Owner of Port City Brewing Company, and Brad Blymier, Co-Owner of War Shore Oyster Company, will be at Black Jack to debut their special edition beer that was specially created to have an affinity for oysters and seafood. 


The National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Pink Tie Party fundraiser will be held Tuesday, March 20 from 7:00 to 11:00pm.

The Spring 2012 Wine Dinner at the Jefferson. March 29: The Dynamic Duo with Favia Wines – Wine Cellar [$200 per person]  Annie Favia and Andy Erickson are a husband and wife team whose partnership brings a great depth of creativity to their highly select range of California wines.  They unite art, science, and nature to produce vintages each with a distinct soul and character, expressing the true nature of its vineyards of origin.  At this dedicated 5-course dinner, their acclaimed Favia Viognier, “Suize,” Amador County 2006 is paired with Butter-poached Lobster with Carrot & Vanilla Purée and Ginger Cardamom Emulsion.  Their Plenty of Room, Pinot Noir, Marin County 2010 accompanies a Roasted Guinea HenRagout of Confit Leg, Savoy Cabbage, and Lardons with Natural Jus; and a double pairing of Favia, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah, Rompecabezas, Amador 2009 makes a triumphal match for the grand finale of Blueberry CrêpeswithBlueberry Marmalade and Vermont Maple Syrup Ice Cream.

On April 3, Think Local First DC will host a workshop at Busboys and Poets on 5th and K designed to help local entrepreneurs, foodies, and aspiring restaurant owners become equipped with the tools and knowledge to open their own establishments. The event, Ingredients for Success: How to Launch and Operate a Restaurant in DC, will connect local leaders in a unique and collaborative learning forum and will explore everything from licensing, leases, concepts, HR best practices, and doing businesses in DC. Trade Grand Tasting and Seminar: Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Members of the trade can explore the rapidly-growing wine region with two exclusive events taking place at Hotel Palomar: a wine seminar (1:30 - 2:30 p.m.) and a trade-only tasting (2:30 - 5:30 p.m.). Guests will learn about the expanding new wine destination during a classroom-style wine seminar featuring regional trends from several Paso Robles winemaker personalities. Immediately following is a walk-around tasting featuring varietals ranging from Cabernet Sauvignon and Rhône style wines, to Sauvignon Blanc and Tempranillo.
