Wildfire in Tysons Galleria created an incredible crab dinner, thoughtfully paired with delicious beers, hosted by John Shields and Evolution Craft Brewing Co.
John Shields is such a renaissance man—He’s an author of Chesapeake Bay Cooking, host of the PBS series Coastal Cooking, and owner of the renowned Gertrude’s in Baltimore, as well as being known as the "Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay!”
He brought along his sous chef, Steve Balcer, to help teach everyone in attendance how to crack open their own crabs. Although I wasn’t the best at opening up my very own crab, I absolutely loved all of the incredible food that was prepared by Wildfire Executive Chef Moreno Espinoza and Gertrude’s Executive Chef Doug Wetzel and the beers that were paired with the dishes. I have to admit though, the dessert stole my heart! The Blackberry Crème Brûlée Pie paired with Evolution Craft Brewing Co.’s Rise Up Coffee Stout was the best way to end the night.
This annual event put on by Wildfire was so much fun—full of fruitful discussions, delicious eats, and so much laughter! We can’t wait to head back next year…but in the meantime, Wildfire has so many other upcoming events to attend! Including: DC Summer Restaurant Week, Port City Brewing Co. Beer Dinner, Taste Of Lettuce DC Dinner, Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Dinner, And a Kid’s Pumpkin Carving Class.
