One of the great things about DC is that it is close to the country.

You can hop in a car and feel serenity in an hour. I love Middleburg. This charming town has wonderful places to stay, beautiful wineries, and delicious eateries.
Recently, I went back to explore.
This time we stayed at the Goodstone Inn in an old renovated stable.
They have an entire farm on the property, complete with a 900-pound pig, chickens, beehives, a llama, sheep, and a garden full of food.
We checked in and relaxed by the fire with some tea.

We had dinner reservations at the Goodstone Inn Restaurant and the property was kind enough to find us a babysitter for the evening so we could enjoy a much needed date night.
The restaurant impressed us again with appetizers of escargot and mussels.
Salads with strawberries and apples arugula and fennel.
For the main course, I went with the perfectly cooked halibut it served with fava beans and dill.
My hubby opted for their spin on Osso Bucco served with smoky pork and mushrooms.
For dessert, we tried the pecan tart with coconut ice cream and the Creme of Caramel.
The meal was outstanding.

We went to bed with full tummies, dreaming about the croissants that I would have with breakfast.
Famous and oh-so-delicious buttery croissants. |
I still had memories of biting into the buttery, flaky pastry at my last visit. Heaven!
This time #babycapcook got to taste and she ate the whole thing. My little foodie!
Corey ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon.
I tried the omelette of the day with caramelized onions, a roasted tomato, white cheddar and mushrooms. #babycapcook enjoyed a large fluffy buttermilk pancake with maple syrup and and fresh fruit. We washed it all down with fresh squeezed juice in hot coffee. The experience is one of the best ways to begin a morning.
#babycapcook loved the chickens. |
We left and went around to visit the animals once again.
Before heading home, we stopped by my favorite Homestead Market to get some snacks for the winery. We headed to Cana Vineyards to sip some Virginia Viognier and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Another fabulous weekend in the books. Hope to be back soon!
Let the Goodstone Inn make you feel at home on an upcoming weekend.
