I love butternut squash this time of year.  One of my good friends came to visit from Arizona and she eats vegan.  I wanted to find a dish that would work with her diet and came up with this recipe.  If you're not vegan and want to amp it up, add some cream and Parmesan cheese at the end.  Happy Fall, Y'all!

Perfect Pair: Gnocchi with Neapolitan Meat Ragu with Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon Wine

The Campania region of southern Italy is home to Mount Vesuvius as well as the bustling city of Naples.  The volcanic soils of Campania grow some of the best produce in Italy. Perfect Pair: Cantaloupe Salad with Calimyrna Figs with Ironstone Obsession Symphony White Wine

At our Lamb and Fig Feast, I made a variety of dishes including a Cantaloupe Salad with Calimyrna Figs. Calimyrna figs have a pale yellow skin with a buttery and nutty flavor similar to a Chardonnay. Symphony is a hybrid grape of Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris.

One year ago this month, the three-tiered contemporary American kitchen and bar honoring the 60s Virginia Hardware shop opened up in Clarendon. Although I knew this place was fun and delicious, I couldn’t believe how popular and trendy the spot had become in just one year! The incredible Vietnamese-immigrant Family-Owned Bakery has launched a delicious new product – Button Cakes – and you don't want to miss it! You may recognize this brand for getting a shout out in 2013 by Obama when he was giving an example to a crowd about a successful immigration story. The company was founded in 1984 by five immigrant brothers as a small neighborhood coffee shop, and today is one of the leaders in developing delicious, high-quality baked goods.
